Our current proposals are as follows:

  • We propose to develop 125 new high quality houses. Housing will comprise both market and affordable homes in a mix of sizes, styles and tenure. Housing will comprise 1,2, 3, 4 and 5 bedrooms properties, it will not exceed 2 storeys in height and will include garden space and off street parking for all new residents.

Housing will be designed to the highest standards ensuring that it caters for a spectrum of needs including for example bathrooms downstairs, study / work space, level accesses and family rooms, etc. Housing will also be energy efficient to ensure low fuel bills.

Housing will typically front internal roadways or will be clustered around small semi private drives. The streets themselves will be surfaced using good quality materials, include wide pavements, street trees in grilles and seating areas to create an attractive environment in which to live.

Housing will accord with Policy 4 of the Neighbourhood Plan which states:

"Development proposals will be supported, providing their scale, density, massing, height, landscape design, layout and materials, including alterations to existing buildings, reflect and enhance the architectural and historic character and scale of the buildings and landscape of Southbourne Parish. All development proposals must be able to demonstrate they will not increase the risk of flooding on or adjoining the proposals site and that they will safeguard and enhance biodiversity in accordance with Policy 7 of the SPNP."

  • The creation of a new linear park along the western edge of the development to include amenity grassland, meadow areas, fruit trees, and an extension to the existing Public Rights of Way Network. The provision of open space in this form seeks to meet the aspirations of the Neighbourhood Plan and in particular assist in the creation of a ’Green Ring’ around Southbourne.
  • The provision of an equipped children#39;s play area, to include both fixed equipment as well as features such as earth mounding and boulders etc which promote naturalistic play. The play area will be well over looked by proposed new housing and will have excellent access from adjacent pathways, including the existing Public Right of Way.
  • The creation of approximately 14 new community allotment plots, including mains water provision and a communal storage area.
  • The creation of a new Sustainable Drainage System (SuDS) comprising of an attenuation pond, swale and ditch.
